Harmony Gold Mining Learnerships: Requirements
The requirements for learnerships provided by Harmony Gold will not all be the same, most will depend on the field applying for. There are however some similarities that candidates must all have.
The basic requirements are as follow:
- You must be South African citizens
- Candidates must have a valid Identity Document
- All candidates must have completed their Grade 12 / Matric (technical dependent on field)
- Candidates must hold a qualification within the field of application
- Applicants must be able to communicate sufficiently in English
- Candidates must have own transport
- All candidates must be medically fit
Competencies in relation to each field may also differ, however, candidates should be able to:
- Communicate effectively at all times
- Comply with all work procedures
- Submit to practices, standards and system methods at all times
- Must be prepared to do required standby duties
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times
- Be prepared to work ‘out of normal hours’ if required
Depending on openings within the company at the time of completion of learnerships, candidates may be offered a permanent position. This is not guaranteed, but may be offered to successful candidates.

Candidates must ensure that their application clearly states the field of learnership applying for. Each application must also include a covering letter, a curriculum vitae, certified copies of all qualifications and academic records, as well as candidates ID document.
Harmony Gold Mining Learnerships: Closing Date
Depending on the learnership, the field and the need within the company, closing dates will be different.
Successful candidates will be required to pass a medical fitness examination done by the companies occupational Health Centre.
The company will contact all candidates who make the short-list. If candidates receive no correspondence from the company within three months of the learnership closing date, those can take it as a sign that their application was unsuccessful.
