City Power Johannesburg (SOC) Limited, as a progressive company committed to the skills and development initiatives of the country and striving for the social and economic development of the region, invites South African youth who are interested in joining the energy industry to apply for our 12 month internship programme.
Our 12 months internship programme will equip you with the knowledge and skills that will enable you to have a meaningful career.
ll applicants are required to be certified in the following qualification levels
- Completed Bachelors Degree
- Studying towards a Bachelors Degree
- Studying towards a Bachelors Degree
- Studying towards a National Diploma
- Completed Higher Certificate
- Post National Senior Certificate Qualification
The following documents must accompany your completed application form:
- Certified copy of your qualification. Applicants are required to have international qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
- Transcripts of statements of results; and
- Certified copy of South African identity document.

STEP 1 –Download the application form from the City Power website, complete it in full and submit application form and attach all the required documents. Downloadable Application Form for the Internship
STEP 2 –All applicants will be required to undergo an assessment. The assessment will be held at the City Power Head Offices. To comply with COVID-19 regulations all applicants will be pre booked for their assessment appointment and must ensure that they make their allocated time. City Power will contact all applicants to assist with the pre booking. The assessment will be a multiple-choice assessment aimed at assessing the applicant’s knowledge of City Power and the City of Johannesburg. A 100% pass rate will be required, please come prepared
STEP 3 –All applicants who have successfully completed Step 2 will be required to undergo a second round of assessments. This assessment will also be held at the City Power Head Offices. Again, to comply with COVID-19 regulations all applicants will be pre booked for their assessment appointment and must ensure that they make their allocated time. City Power will contact all applicants to assist with the pre booking. The assessment will be an essay type assessment aimed at assessing the applicant’s knowledge of City Power’s business operations. A 80% pass rate will be required, please come prepared!

- Interns will receive a stipend calculated at City Power remuneration rates;
- City Power is an Employment Equity Employer, therefore preference for this programme will be given to candidates whose appointment will enhance representativity, especially females and people with disabilities;
